Empowering Leadership and Strengthening Fellowship: Highlights from the 26th Session of the 19th Episcopal District RAYAC Convention
The 26th Session of the 19th Episcopal District RAYAC Convention, held from September 6 to 8, 2024, at the MMM Memorial Annual Conference in Boekenhoutskloof, Cullinan, brought together young leaders and members for a weekend of fellowship, spiritual growth, and organizational development. The event provided a platform for attendees to engage in meaningful worship, reflect on their mission, and strengthen their community bonds.
The convention began with registration and kit distribution, setting a tone of excitement and anticipation. Sis B. Mogoje led a stirring opening worship service, followed by a powerful sermon from Rev. T. Mere titled “At the End, Begins God.” This message resonated with the participants, encouraging them to find strength and hope in times of change.
The first business session saw greetings from leaders and a registration report reflecting participation from 71 members across various regions, highlighting the convention’s wide reach. Throughout the event, business sessions allowed elected and appointed officers to present progress reports, which were subsequently adopted by the convention.
These reports showcased commendable innovations and initiatives undertaken during their terms, reflecting the organization’s growth. A vibrant Cultural Night, facilitated by President Kumalo Sr, was a highlight of the weekend. Members celebrated their heritage with traditional attire, music, and cultural dances, creating an infectious energy that strengthened the bonds of fellowship within the district.
A notable aspect of the convention was the memorial session, during which Rev MZ Manqele delivered a comforting sermon titled “When I Am Weak, Yet I Am Strong.”
This message provided solace to attendees as they honoured the memories of members who had passed, offering hope through faith during challenging times.
The much-anticipated elections were presided over by Connectional RAYAC President Bro. Jeremy Satterwhite, resulting in the election of new officers for the 2024-2026 term.
Congratulations to the newly elected 19th Episcopal District President, Sis Kabelo Mofokeng, who delivered her inaugural address, outlining her vision for the future of RAYAC. Her message encouraged continued engagement among members, focusing on building stronger connections within the district and ensuring that RAYAC’s mission remains impactful.
The closing worship service, featuring a sermon by Rev. TG Mabena titled “Take Out the Ash and Keep the Fire Burning,” reinforced the spiritual commitment of the members, urging them to remain steadfast in their faith and mission.
As the convention drew to a close, awards were presented to recognize outstanding contributions within the organization, celebrating the achievements of dedicated members.
A key highlight was the ceremonial robing of Connectional RAYAC President Bro. J.D. Sechaba Satterwhite. Fully robed in the missionary uniform, Bro. Satterwhite’s attire symbolized the honour and responsibility bestowed upon him as the connectional leader. This moment was a proud reflection of his role in guiding the organisation forward.
The 19th Episcopal District RAYAC proudly recognizes Immediate Past President Bro. Thembinkosi Khumalo Snr for his remarkable eight years of dedicated service. His leadership, passion, and commitment to excellence have left an indelible mark on the organization, shaping its growth and future trajectory .
