Council of Bishops Criminal Justice Task Force

The African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Council of Bishops created a Task Force on Criminal Justice in January 2022.  The Council charged The Task Force with helping the AME Church become more intentional and collaborative in its collective efforts to transform criminal legal systems and assisting the Denomination in becoming more responsive to those impacted by the systems. To that end and since January, Episcopal District representatives were appointed to serve on the Task Force; representatives were designated by connectional auxiliary and commission leaders, and the Task Force’s visioning and strategic planning process commenced. After much discussion, deliberation, and prayer, the Task Force has decided to target its work by rallying the Church towards advocacy and action relating to a system that affects one of our most vulnerable populations–our children. Accordingly, we now seek your participation.

Together with God, we hope to transform youth justice systems and work alongside local congregations to cultivate ministries of prevention, support, and sanctuary (safe space).  We are stronger together.  If led, please join us by completing the attached survey so we can benefit from your gifting.
