Department of Church Growth and Development Evangelism

The Department of Church Growth and Development Evangelism of the AME Church made its report to the General Conference. The report was given in video format and included information on the new logo, website, and the Secret Chamber publishing. A full report can be found on the AME Meetings Application. The report was received for informational purposes.

Department of Christian Education

The Department of Christian Education of the AME Church made its report to the General Conference. The report was given in video format and included information on activities and ecumenical partnerships. A full report can be found on the AME Meetings Application. The report was received for informational purposes.

Department of Global Witness and Ministry

The Department of Global Witness and Ministry of the AME Church made its report to the General Conference. The report was given in video format and included information on funds raised, distributed, and the partnerships gained. A full report can be found on the AME Meetings Application. The report was received for informational purposes.

Revisions Committee

The revisions committee is giving its second reading of the revision’s bills for review. The second reading includes the title, intent, rationale, entire current text, and amended text. The first report in this session is on the legislation titled, “Abandoned Property.” This legislation sought to alleviate the costs of dispersing the sale of properties. It would be moved and seconded when brought to the General Conference body for a motion. It was passed with a hand remote and will be passed to a third reading.

Department of Retirement Services

The Department of Retirement Services of the AME Church made its report to the General Conference. The report was given in video format and included information on the difficulties experienced and an ultimate revaluing of the office. A full report can be found on the AME Meetings Application. The report was not fully received for informational purposes, due to a motion to “dismantle the life insurance program.” Whereas much conversation was had, it will continue in a later session.

Bishop McCloud Remark

Taking the microphone, Bishop describes his feeling of being attacked. Decided to leave the Session Early.

Revisions Committee

The revisions committee is giving its second reading of the revision’s bills for review. The second reading includes the title, intent, rationale, entire current text, and amended text. The second report in this session is on the legislation titled, “Reobligation Verbiage.” This legislation sought to offer consistent legislation for re-obligating already ordained elders. It would be moved and seconded when brought to the General Conference body for a motion. It was passed with a hand remote and will be passed to a third reading.

The third report in this session is on the legislation titled, “Christian Evangelical League.” This legislation sought to “Intent to lead all to Jesus and encourage ACE league members to be witnesses and evangelism.” This report was stalled on the floor due to the Episcopal Committee Report.

Episcopal Committee Report 

The Episcopal Committee of the AME Church made its first report to the General Conference. The Rev. Dr. Charles Young reported that Bishop Earl McCloud was examined and they were waiting on documents for him to defend himself. This report was moved, second, and received as the first report from the Episcopal Committee. Rev. Mayberry (5th) also came to address his name being called and his story. The committee report was adjourned.
