A Final Clarion Call to 500,000 African Methodist Episcopal Church Prayer Warriors- Praying For Our General Conference
By Rev. Teri Strong, 13th Episcopal District
On March 23, 2020, the Bishop Sarah Francis Davis Covenant Keepers and Intercessors and the saints globally began and have not ceased to pray for the healing of the land from the COVID-19 crisis. And though it has been a long and tedious spiritual battle, we still have praying to do. We have prayed for the Church Universal, the communion of the saints and the forgiveness of sin. We have prayed for church leadership, our children, political leaders, for sinners to come to repentance and our global church in general. Now we must continue praying for our Zion called the African Methodist Episcopal Church and the undertaking of conducting the global business of the Church. The business decisions made during the General Conference have a spiritual, global and lasting impact on the lives of all AME’s; both clergy and laity.
This is why it is so imperative for us to stay on the wall with effectual fervent prayers continually for business to be conducted decently and in order, to be conducted with sound Godly judgement and with wisdom only from the Word of God. It is with all this in mind that we make a last clarion call to 500,000 members of the Connectional Church to join us in bombarding the heavens with three priorities.
First, we should make a II Chronicles 7:14 declaration of being God’s people who are called by His name, humbling ourselves and praying, seeking His face and turning from our wicked ways that He may hear from heaven and forgive our sin and heal our land.
Second, we should pray to have a Philippians 4:8 mindset which encourages us by saying, “ Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
Lastly, we should pray to stand under the spiritual umbrella of Acts 2:1 which says“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.” In other words, we should be seeking to be on one accord in all that we do in the place called Orlando Florida in order for the presence of God to visit our General Conference with a Pentecostal rushing mighty wind that will cause each of us to depart with a renewed commitment to love Him with all our heart, soul and mind and love our neighbor as ourselves.
Simply stated, we should pray that God is the conductor of our business and that we are the instruments used by Him to do so. We should pray that even in the midst of business we should be mindful that all we do should be done in the spirit of worship and praise and that all we do should be done to glorify Him and for His name’s sake. I believe if we conduct the business of our Zion in this fashion, God will be pleased with our efforts and our global church will be blessed for it’s righteous deeds.
We are asking all 500,000, whether you are in attendance or not, to pray three times daily. If possible, please be on one accord with praying three times between the hours of 7-8 am, 12-1 pm and 5-6 pm. Remember James 5:16b says “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” Lets avail much for our Zion by agreeing in effectual fervent prayer for the 2021 African Methodist Episcopal Church General Conference. To sign up to be one of the 500,000 please join the Bishop Sarah Francis Davis Covenant Keepers and Intercessors Facebook Group now and thanks for agreeing with us in prayer for our General Conference and our Zion.
