My Tribute to Women In Ministry
By Rev. Stephanie M. Atkins, 1st Episcopal District
WIM Connectional Herstoriographer
Women, you were created by an awesome God with a special purpose in mind. We compare your design to that of a diamond…. priceless, rare, unique, precious, and magnificent. As a stone, you have been purified by fire and then shaped in a unique design by a jeweler, a craftsman of her trade.
Like Mary and Martha, we sit at your feet to learn of you, Lord. Teach us to serve together in unity and love.
My sisters, you are far more precious than rubies, pearls, sapphire, or amethyst, transparent and flawless in the eye of the beholder. You are a constant reflection of the Creator. You are pretty, fine characters, royalty to behold.
Like Mary and Martha, we sit at your feet to learn of you, Lord. Teach us to serve one another out of sincere hearts, with honesty and love.
God’s leading ladies, you are polished, with a shine all your own. Rare, distinct, classy, talented, humorous, and a lot of fun, you come in a style and fashion all your own, from the quiet ones to the balls of fire.
Like Mary and Martha, we sit at your feet to learn of you, Lord. Teach us to embrace our beauty, uniqueness, and individuality. We have a style of our own.
Thank you for making us intercessors and examples for others to follow. We thank you for your wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. Give us a willingness to pray, a heart to love, hands to serve, and a spirit of obedience.
Like Mary and Martha, we sit at your feet to learn of you, Lord. Teach us in all ways to be more like you. Show us how to be compassionate, patient, loving, and kind. We want to be women who answered the call to serve throughout African Methodism.
