Dothan-Eufaula Lead the SE Alabama Conference in Getting AME’s Vaccinated for COVID-19

The Reverend Dr. Frederick Douglas Sherrod, III, Presiding Elder for the Dothan Eufaula District, Southeast Alabama Conference, 9th District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church was active in getting AME’s vaccinated for the Coronavirus-19.  Dothan Pediatrics Clinic spearheaded this task with Presiding Elder Sherrod to encourage African Americans to get vaccinated. 

There were 150 Seniors (65 and older) vaccinated and that number is expecting to increase in the coming months. The 3 local churches that got their members to participate were Parks Chapel AME Church, Rev. Dr. Marques Wheeler, Pastor, Stringer Street AME Church, Rev. Celeste Adams, Pastor and Cherry Chapel AME Church, Rev. Joseph Rembert, all of Dothan, Alabama.

Presiding Elder Sherrod will expand to other churches across the district including the Eufaula, Alabama area.  On March 1, 2021, the vaccination will be administered every day for the next three months with a daily limit of thousand people at the Southeast Medical Center located in Dothan, Alabama.

Rev. Dr. Frederick Douglas Sherrod is the new Presiding Elder for the Dothan-Eufaula District.  He perceived Presiding Elder David Earl Reddick who served the district for 25 years.  Rev. Dr. Sherrod was appointed Presiding Elder by Bishop Harry L. Seawright on November 7, 2019.
